Choosing your Hair + Makeup Artists

Congratulations on your engagement! Now you have months of planning ahead, selecting vendors and deciding on an itinerary. Let us help you make choosing hair and makeup artists a little bit easier.

Step 1: Do your research.

Make sure you look through social media profiles to find hair and makeup artists that offer the type of work you are looking for! Every artist has a style they specialize in, so make sure you find someone who is passionate about what you are looking for. You should be able to tell if you may vibe with an artist based on what they showcase on their social media platforms!

Step 2: Book a consultation.

Consultations are so important before you put money down on any services. This gives you a chance to meet the artists, chat with them further about your wedding day and ensure that they are the right fit for your needs. It is okay to do a few consultations before deciding! It’s better to make an educated decision rather than end up unhappy with your artist(s) after signing a contract.

Step 3: Manage your expectations.

When you find your inspiration photos, make sure you listen to the artists recommendations about whether your desired vision can be achieved. Sometimes eye shape, hair texture and skin tone can mean your inspiration photos aren’t the best look for you. Always go in with a vision but an open mind as well!

Step 4: Their experience in Bridal.

Not every artist specializes in bridal hair and makeup. Is the style you require simple or more intricate? This can help you decide whether you need someone who specializes in the industry or someone who maybe just does bridal as an extra service.

Step 5: Social media presence.

Artists who take their work seriously will have social media pages for you to view their previous work. This is a great indicator if they are able to complete your hair or makeup vision.

Step 6: Sign a contract.

It is incredibly important to sign a contract for the services you are booking. This protects both you and the artists. Make sure you fully understand the contract before signing and ask for any clarification on areas you aren’t completely sure on. Credible artists will provide you with a contract. Without one you could leave yourself open to an artist taking your deposit and no showing or canceling last minute with no recourse.

We hope this list has helped answer any questions you have about booking hair and makeup services for your wedding day! Have a question we missed? Send us a message!
